Counting seeds

Today we opened up our pumpkins and sorted the goop and seeds. We then needed an organized way to found the seeds, so once again we used ten frames. We then compared our results to see which pumpkin had the most, least, and if any had the same amount.

Area-the space an object takes up

So far during our pumpkin math exploration we have learned about estimation (an estimate is a thinking guess), height, and weight. Today we are measuring the "foot print" of our pumpkin (otherwise known as the area). First we made an estimate.  Then, we traced our pumpkin's foot print, and we covered it with blocks. We needed an organized way to count the blocks, so we used 10 frames and counted by 10's!  After we had some fun building towers! 😊

Patterns all around!

We have been learning about patterns! We learned that patterns are all around us and they always repeat themselves (core).  We learned how to create, extend and label 2 and 3 part patterns.

A leaf can be . . .

Once again today we used leaves to expand our learning.  Today we created these leaf pictures.  We mixed up a little bit of math, science and art and came out with these!
