Proud of our portfolios!

We are so excited to share what we have learned with our families!  We have worked hard and are ready to "show what we know."  Today we spent some time sharing our portfolios with our friends, in order to prepare for sharing with our families.  We try to do our best every day, and it's our time to shine!

The 6 Magic Story Words

Look who stopped in today!  The Magic Story Fairy made a stop in room 16 today, surprising the children with a lesson all about the 6 Magic Story Words!  The Magic Story Words: who, what, where when, why and how, are all words that good writers think about when writing.  They help the writer to think about the details they should be adding to their writing, so that he/she can paint a picture in the readers mind.

Animal environments

Our creative minds were working overtime this week - and boy did it pay off!  We can't wait to share our fabulous animal environments with our parents on conference night!  Here is a sneak peak . . .

Colour mixing

We had a lot of fun this week in art!  We learned about different types of lines: straight, curvy, zig zag, wavy lines, etc.  We then learned how to hold a paint brush and how to mix colours.   We can't wait to share our masterpieces!  They are already up on display and we have received many compliments from other teachers and students.

A picture says a thousand words!

Look at us doing our jobs and being proud to show off our hard work!  We have finished our Manitoba animal  research and we have shared lots of fun facts with our friends.  Next, we will "show what we know" when we build our animal environments.  More fun times to come!  Stay tuned . . . .

Remembrance Day & Days of the Week

We have been working hard and learning lots about Remembrance Day.  At the assembly, we preformed our song beautifully.  We wish you all were there with us.  This week we wrote poems about what peace means to us, and letters to veterans thanking them for keeping Canada safe and at peace.

We also practiced our days of the week and calendar concepts.  We really enjoyed the "race to the day" game we played.

Look who's just hanging around!

Hooray Stevenson!  We met and surpassed our fundraising goal last week so . . . Mr. Miller and Ms. Couch were duct taped to the wall!  Mr. Miller didn't last very long . . . but Ms. Couch stayed up for a while!!!
