The Integrated Arts - session 2
Miss. M was back today, teaching us more about how to build containers using different materials. First, we traced cut outs of different shapes on to paper. Then we cut them out, and folded or rolled the paper to make a 3D container. We picked our favourite shape, and chose 1 or 2 different materials to cover the container. We have some future designers in Room 16! There were some very creative designs! We can't wait until our last session on Wednesday.

Creating Texture With Paint
Our creative minds were hard at work this week! We have been reading a lot of books from the author Eric Carle. We decided that we would like to make pictures just like him! So, our first step was to create different types of texture with paint. We used flowers, sea sponges, cleaning sponges, combs, mini brooms and paint brushes. We explored different ways to apply the paint to the paper by brushing, twisting, blotting, and combing. This is part one of our art project. We can't wait to show you the finished product!

Christmas Concert Practices
This week, and over the next week and a half, the grade 1's will be working hard on their songs for the Christmas concert! Ms. Remple has been hard at work, and these dancing bears are sure to look fabulous! A special thank you to our parent volunteers who helped out with our costumes!!

Absorb or Repel?
We were very excited today to participate in a science experiment. We got to test different fabrics to see which we would use to make a rain jacket. We learned that even though you can make a jacket out of almost anything, you need to decide what material would work the best, for what you wanted the jacket to do i.e. keep the water out.
More Math Games!
Today we learned another new math game! Our goal was to add 2 numbers together, use the strategies counting on or counting back to build a tower, and spin the spinner (more and less) to see who got a point! We had a lot of fun, and practiced our counting skills too!
